Routine servicing in Ormonde and Aeroton
Aeroton factories and warehouses: Industrial generator services
Sets carrying lines, dock doors and cold rooms through each daytime load-shedding slot reach their hours interval within months; serviced between shifts.
Mini-unit parks and tenant units: Generator maintenance
A landlord set serving a row of units runs lightly loaded; one visit covers the park and tenants’ own sets.
Engineering, metal and motor-trade works: AVR repairs
Booysens, Selby and Ophirton works whose dust packs the radiator and whose welders test the AVR every slot.
Nasrec venues and Gold Reef City: Load bank testing
Sets that stand for weeks and then have to carry a full house; serviced before the calendar fills, with a loaded run.
Servicing
What a generator service in Ormonde and Aeroton includes
A service on this belt fits the gap the shift roster allows, often in a dusty yard, so filters, fins and air intake take longer; yard tanks are sampled and a venue set is run under load before its first event.
- Engine oil and filter, with the fuel, air and water-separator filters
- Coolant level and condition, radiator, hoses and belts
- Starting battery load-tested, charger output and terminals checked
- Fuel system checked for leaks, water and contamination, tank to injectors
- Alternator, AVR, output connections and earthing checked
- Controller settings, alarms and hour meter recorded
- Test run under load: voltage, frequency and temperatures
- Changeover (ATS) operation confirmed where fitted
You get a written record of what was done and found. The full list is in our service checklist; generator servicing explains the work and a maintenance plan keeps it on schedule.
Intervals
How often a set here needs a service
| The set | How it runs here | When it falls due |
|---|---|---|
| Factory or warehouse set in Aeroton | How it runs hereEvery daytime slot, near full load | When it falls dueBy hours: a month of back-to-back slots uses the interval |
| Landlord set at a mini-unit park | How it runs hereEach outage, well under its rating | When it falls dueYearly at least, run under load so it does not wet-stack |
| Works set in Booysens, Selby or Ophirton | How it runs hereEvery working-hours slot, in dust | When it falls dueBy hours, with filters and fins cleared between |
| Venue set at Nasrec or Gold Reef City | How it runs hereEvent days and the weekly test | When it falls dueBy the calendar, before the busy season |
The service intervals guide works the next date out from the hour meter; wet stacking covers light running.
Plans
Maintenance plans for Ormonde and Aeroton
Plant and warehouse plans: Industrial generator services
For plant and facilities managers: intervals set from the hour meter, a monthly run under production load, yard tank sampled, report filed for the insurer.
Landlord and mini-unit park plans: Generator maintenance
One schedule for the park: landlord and tenant sets on one visit, one quotation, a report each tenant can read.
Venue and event plans: Load bank testing
For Nasrec and Gold Reef City: a service before the busy season and a loaded run that proves it.
Workshop and small-site plans: Generator servicing
For motor-trade workshops and Ormonde homes: a yearly service, battery and changeover proved, petrol portables drained before they stand.

Prevention
What a service on this belt catches before the outage does
Most repairs on this belt were visible at the last service: fins packed with grinding dust, water under the diesel in a yard tank, a charger drifting high enough to cook the battery, an AVR sagging each time the welder strikes, each a line on the report.
Once a set has stopped, the Ormonde and Aeroton generator repairs page covers the faults we fix at factories, works and venues. Next door, Industria and Crown Mines and the Johannesburg CBD run on the same plans; see Johannesburg for the whole city.
- Fins and filters cleared of grinding dust
- Yard-tank water drained each visit
- Changeover cycled on live mains

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Our Aeroton warehouse runs two shifts. When does the service happen?
Between them, or at the weekend: the engine work needs the set stopped, not the plant; only the transfer test moves the floor, so that is booked for the shift change.
Our panel shop’s set hardly runs, yet the battery is flat at every slot. Can a plan fix that?
Yes. A plan meters the charger and battery between services and runs the set under load monthly; a charger drifting low sulphates a battery in a season. See battery not charging.
Our venue set only runs on event days. How often does it need a service?
Yearly at least, with a test run before each busy spell. A set that stands between events loses charge and collects condensation; only a loaded run proves it.
We rent a unit and the landlord owns the set. Can we book the service ourselves?
Yes, with the landlord’s agreement. We quote whoever books, service the landlord set and any tenant sets on one date, and send the report to both.
